YORKEYS KNOB, CAIRNS, QUEENSLAND

Moored safely in marina at Yorkeys Knob, 10 miles north of Cairns. Beware of crocs (salties) and all beaches have vinegar for treating jellyfish stings which can be fatal. Fortunately it is not the stinger season at present. Visited yet another rain forest via cable car up and train down. Hired a car to drive along the coast to Port Douglas and across the Great Dividing Range to the more arid hinterland where the soil is very red with many large termite mounds. Gas powered BBQ facilities are everywhere and free of charge. Leave for Cooktown tomorrow, Sept 6th.

1) What is it with truck drivers Yorkeys and knobs? Thommo always had a theory.
2) If they ask you to drink vinegar after being stung by a box jellyfish then they are taking the mick. From personal experience diamorphine laced with cocaine might help but I doubt it!
